Charybdis is an 0-6-2 tender locomotive, using the body design of the Roundhouse Fowler locomotive and its bogie wheel tender for water capacity and coal supply. Charybdis is a model of the locos built by John Fowler & Co. Ltd. of Leeds for the Inisfail Tramway in Queensland, Australia.

Charybdis features include:-

  • 0-6-2 Roundhouse chassis (32mm or 45mm gauge available)
  • Coal Fired Multi Tube Boiler
  • Steam Blower
  • Displacement Lubricator
  • Axle driven water pump with bypass valve (disguised as brake handle)
  • Water carried in tender
  • Water Top Up Valve (Using Water Pump Bottle)
  • Water Gauge with Blow Down
  • Pressure Gauge with Safety Valve set to 60PSI  (60PSI Maximum Working Pressure)
  • Smokebox with opening door. (4 latches on smokebox door)
  • Liftable cab roof for good access
  • Stainless Steel Grate
  • Roundhouse Cylender Covers
  • Set of Firing Tools (Shovel, Poker, Flue Brush, Battery Blower)
  • With a good fire this loco can run for up to 10 minutes before attending to the fire again
  • Please state gauge when ordering loco, a gauge conversion kit is available if change of gauge is required
